Literature Text

Perhaps,
If this were a masquerade,
You might make a little more sense.

Perhaps,
If you would follow my lead,
We'd dance under the chandelier.

And on the chance
The light fills your eyes,
Their radiance will engulf the world as well.

Perhaps,
If I spun you around,
You'd laugh, stumbling back into step

What are the odds?
At a masquerade ball,
Trading graces; trading faces

And I worry sometimes
If the band stopped playing
Would you be locked in an endless waltz?

If I were to leave and the lights go out,
And you danced on into death
I'd hope you never catch yourself dancing alone.
Definitely finally wrote this. This is an idea that's been bubbling abouts my brain for a good while. Months, even. I did go and do that three-line stanzas format for the first time, and I stuck with it throughout the piece.

Seriously, I love writing these. I love being able to experiment with these different formats. It's magical.
